Everyone has their own stories about Queen Elizabeth II, these are mine.
My mum told me about the Queen visiting Invercargill, specifically Queens Park in 1977.
A friend of hers had a son with special needs, who was reluctant about going there that morning.
As luck would have it, Prince Philip made a beeline for the young man, asking him if was excited about seeing the Queen.
Spoiler alert: he wasn’t.
“I didn’t want to come and see the ******* Queen anyway,” he reportedly told Prince Philip, who roared with laughter.
My second story is a more personal one. Possibly the biggest story in my career was due to the Queen.
