Is Dunedin the country's traffic cone capital? And why the answer is 'yes'
I’m calling it. Dunedin has more traffic cones than Christchurch.
Everywhere you turn, there appears to be hundreds and hundreds of the buggers.
Rather than getting frustrated by the extra five minutes as you merge into a traffic cone-lined lane, and then proceed to wait for the slowest changing traffic lights to turn green: rejoice.
Because Dunedin, and let’s not say this too loud, is in the middle of a construction boom.
I took some time to look at some of the projects, which have been somewhat overshadowed by the $1.4 billion hospital redevelopment, which can’t be written about unless I add the immortal lines: ‘one of the country’s largest infrastructure projects’.
