I am saddened by this news but deeply respect the deputy mayor for her integrity and conviction for this decision. She has shown by her example that we deserve better, as a community, from the leader of our council

I'm also glad she has only stepped down as Deputy, and will continue as a Councillor

So sad that it has come to this for our deputy mayor. But total respect for her integrity, thankfully she remains on the council.

Why are all the reporters failing to note that O'Malley & Barker are business and personal partners?

Would love to see the content of Carmen's texts by the way.

I'm rather sorry about this, at least we had a competent deputy mayor until now. Jules could have been OK with a sensible deputy.

Jules was never going to be an OK mayor. His true nature has been revealed to all now he makes public speeches.

Hawkins made speeches for the in crowd but they were empty things and his Mayoral competency was rubbish. I'm disappointed in Jules as well, disappointed that he is not pushing back harder against the likes of Barker. And now he's appointed a former council employee to Deputy Mayor 🙄
