My heart goes out to this family, well done to Tahuna for stepping up to help.
I now hear on the news the National Party want to build another Medical School. Isn't it about time the investment was put into our current Medical Schools with the facilities and teaching hospitals needed. Another medical school which will take years to build, then more teachers needed which will compete with the current schools, time to invest in what we already have.
That looks like Peter Pan in our beautiful 160 year old botanical gardens 💚
“To me, the decision to nix the Interprofessional Learning Centre, which was pitched as an educational facility for University of Otago and Otago Polytechnic students at the new Dunedin Hospital, feels premature.
Surely this is now the time to invest in one of the city’s best assets, the medical school?”
With all those wealthy benefactors behind NatACT I wonder what they expect from their generosity. Last time in govt. Coleman insisted Southern DHB undertake fewer procedures & lengthen waitlist. Largely because Tony Ryall was preparing the NZ Health system for sale to American health industry interests. Underfund to ensure underperformance. Same is happening with the NHS in the UK.
Another medical school will over stretch the number of places for trainees in our hospitals & medical centres. Only 4 years? Rural doctors? It’s the detail that’s worrying. They don’t do things to aid the the public without clicking the ticket of entrepreneurs first.
Good on you Tahuna Eriepa, now come on schools and the rest of the community, this is the time to change attitudes and prejudice . A community BBQ is a great way to start, keep up the Aroha.
So sorry to hear about the Mosgiel family and thanks for highlighting this ugly story. Also thanks SO much to Tahuna for stepping up...and absolutely happy to pop a few $$ to the give a little.
